C64 action adventure games

Amazon women
Packed size:33k
Original size:49k
Format:P00

I think the story is something like you crash landed in the middle if the jungle, and this hostile tribe with aggressive female warriors are trying to stop you from getting out. Whatever. You have to fight other chicks with clubs, that's pretty much it. It's a crappy game really, but I still kind of like it.
Arabian nights
Packed size:24k
Original size:47k
Format:P00
Doc:Spectrum
Arabian Nights is for me a classic game, I remember a friend bought this and we played it till we dropped. There was nothing really revolutionary about it, except for perhaps the synthesized speech. Click here for a sample of "Imrahil began his quest on Sinbad's ship" (41k).
Arac
Packed size:36k
Original size:38k
Format:P00
Doc:No
Here's an original idea. You control a robot who walks around and catches different animals - to be able to use their abilities to your gain.
Aztec challenge
Packed size:16k
Original size:31k
Format:P00
Doc:C64
Classic multi-part game from the early days of the C64. In the first part you run the gauntlet, where millions of Eqyptians try to get a shot at you while you're running to the temple. It's very fun, but I'm not sure what the objective of the game really is. Probably to find a treasure or somesuch.
Beach head
Packed size:33k
Original size:36k
Format:P00
Doc:Atari
A great multi-part game from Access software. You have to get into the evil dictator's territory to overthrow him. To achieve this you have to complete different scenarios, including naval battle and jeep crusade.
Beach head II
Packed size:63k
Original size:171k
Format:D64

Doc:No
The follow-up to Beach Head, which was never as popular as the original. This is not so hard to understand, because the game is not as good. It's not bad however. The greatest weakness is probably that in this game every scenario is like an event, where you score points - and then the sum of all events are added up to find the winner. Probably great in two-player mode. The game features some great sampled speech though, (15k).
Cauldron
Packed size:29k
Original size:49k
Format:P00
Doc:Spectrum
A weird and very difficult game. Help the hag win the prize of the Golden Broom. To do this you have to fly all over the land and jump some tricky platforms.
Cauldron II
Packed size:35k
Original size:50k
Format:P00
Doc:No
In the follow-up to Cauldron you play the pumpkin who bounces around on platforms and (usually) into every monster on screen. Truly original and truly tricky.
Defender of the Crown

The title that started off Cinemaware. I think this game originally targetted the Amiga, but the C64 version is just as good - if not better.
You play one of the contenders of the throne in Britain. It's a strategy game with action scenes - and beautiful graphics.
Druid
Packed size:31k
Original size:50k
Format:P00
Doc:C64
Druid looks much like a Gauntlet-clone, but plays quite differently - and much better - than that game. As a druid you have to free the land of some great evil (probably), and in the process kill lots of monsters. Collect magic spells and keys from chests to get on.
Eagle's nest
Packed size:35k
Original size:37k
Format:P00
Doc:Spectrum
Deep in German territory you have different missions to fulfil, and treasure to loot. The castle is filled with Germans, who luckily aren't armed - and often line up to be killed. Good for you.
Enigma force
Packed size:38k
Original size:40k
Format:P00
Doc:No
This is the follow-up to Shadowfire. An icon-driven adventure, with lots of action packed into it. Pretty hard game, I never really got the hang of it.
Forbidden forest
Packed size:19k
Original size:19k
Format:P00
Doc:No
You're the lonely archer who wanders out in the forbidden forest, in hunt for the evil Demogorgon. On the way you have to deal with all sorts of scariness with your bow.
Really scary game, and the scenes when you get killed are rather horrid. Even with blocky graphics.
Ghostbusters
Packed size:26k
Original size:38k
Format:P00
Doc:No
A great movie conversion from Activision. Catch as many ghosts as possible to make some money and eventually face the Marshmallow man and the evil Zuul. Features some great sampled speech, listen to this (94k).
Grog's revenge
Packed size:25k
Original size:38k
Format:P00
Doc:C64
The follow-up to BC's Quest for Tires is perhaps not as good as the original, but still a pretty cool game. Drive your wheel around the mountain, collect clams to get you over the bridge, and avoid Grog.
Hacker
Packed size:32k
Original size:49k
Format:P00
Doc:C64
In this game you play the accidental (?) hacker who stumbles across a secret experiment and a dangerous plot. You must collect all the pieces of a secret document by trading with several shady characters around the world.
H.E.R.O
Packed size:12k
Original size:20k
Format:P00

Flying around a cave is no problem for you, because you are a helicopter man. And you must use this specialty to rescue the hostages or miners or whatever they are. Blow up walls and shoot spiders, sounds like fun doesn't it?
Infiltrator
Packed size:88k
Original size:341k
Format:D64(2)
Multiload
Doc:Unknown
One of the best games for the C64, in my opinion. Play the super-soldier who infiltrates the mad dictator's secret bases and topples the balance of war. Nice to see a game where extreme violence is not the solution. Check out the feature of this game for more info.
Jungle hunt
Packed size:13k
Original size:17k
Format:P00
Doc:C64
Swing, jump, run and swim in this jungle game to rescue your loved one from the cannibals. Simple but fun.
The Last Ninja 2
Packed size:285k
Original size:341k
Format:D64(2)

Doc:C64
The Last Ninja series is hailed as some of the best games for the C64. This is not true, in my opinion. The games have great graphics, possibly the best for the C64, but they lack in gameplay. You run around and kick some butt, collect some items and then die because you fall 2 metres, or you drown because your stupid ninja can't swim. Anyway, this sequel to Last Ninja is at least playable (as opposed to the original, in which you died unless you performed pixel-perfect jumps), and because of the great graphics it certainly deserves a place on this page.
Law of the West
Packed size:98k
Original size:341k
Format:D64(2)

Doc:No
Play the sheriff of a lawless town in the middle of the wild west. You have to talk to the townspeople as well as strangers and known criminals. The goal is to preserve order and stay alive. Great graphics, fun dialogue and ok action make this game a winner.
Miami Vice
Packed size:32k
Original size:53k
Format:P00
Doc:No
The game based on the TV series. I don't remember much of it. In fact I can't really play it anymore, because of that! I do remember, though, that it was pretty fun once you got a hang of it. If you have any docs or instructions, I would be very happy if you mailed me.
Nexus
Packed size:37k
Original size:50k
Format:P00
Doc:No
Infiltrate the fortress of the enemy and find your pal. Communicate with people you meet (or kick their ass) to accomplish your task. A good idea, which is let down by the fact that there are no sound effects, and the animation is pretty bad. More important though, is that there is a lot of running and searching and running and searching, and eventually you just get bored.
Raid over Moscow
Packed size:44k
Original size:46k
Format:P00
Doc:Atari/C64
Play a gang of well-trained fighter pilot commandos in the heat of the Cold War. The Soviets finally thought now is the time to strike. Your mission: to strike back. Take out the Soviet launch sites and finally the Moscow command center. Check out the feature of this great game.
Rocky Horror Show
Packed size:33k
Original size:35k
Format:P00
Doc:No
Now this is a truly strange game - I think it's based on a musical with the same name. You're wandering around in this strange castle, and all sorts of bizarre things happen. I have no idea what you're supposed to do, but it's fun enough.
Shadowfire
Packed size:35k
Original size:171k
Format:D64
Doc:Spectrum
Shafowfire is an icon-driven adventure/strategy/action game that takes place in a sci-fi setting. The evil Zoff has captured secret plans, and you must get them and him back. Nice graphics and soundtrack, but the gameplay is a bit slow.
Shamus
Packed size:13k
Original size:24k
Format:P00
Doc:Atari
One of the earlier games, you play the Shamus who has to find and destroy (I think) the evil Shadow. Run around to collect keys to open doors and various other objects, but beware of the killer droids and the Shadow himself.
Staff of Karnath
Packed size:33k
Original size:60k
Format:P00
Doc:No
Find the different pieces of the pentagram. And to do that you have to run around and use your magical abilities. I never really got the hang of this one, but it's still enjoyable.
Sorcery
Packed size:23k
Original size:24k
Format:P00
Doc:No
Fly around the landscape and avoid ghosts, ghouls and all sorts of evil stuff. To get on by you must find the correct items to get you past different obstacles. Not always very logical, but the game has a very high atmospheric factor.
Tau Ceti
Packed size:44k
Original size:171k
Format:D64
Doc:C64
To repopulate a deserted planet you have to take down the planet's automatic defense systems. A mix of action and strategy together with some fine graphics make this game work very well.
This is the full version of the game.
