C64 shooting games

1942
Packed size: 29k
Original size: 34k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Play the single hero airplane that saved the American at the Battle of Midway; shoot down the evil Japs, get your power-ups and rock away... Oh, whatever, an arcade conversion and a decent game.
Airwolf
Packed size: 24k
Original size: 41k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A nice shoot and explore game with great graphics. A bit hard though.
AMC - Attack of the mutant camels
Packed size: 7k
Original size: 13k
Format: P00
Doc: No
You've got to stop a horde of giant mutant camels before they reach your zone. All you've got is a small spaceship and a teeny laser, so you'll have to hit those beasts a lot of times.
Army moves
Packed size: 29k
Original size: 30k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A nice shooting scroller in a few parts. The first part is similar to classic Moon Buggy and is lots of fun. Second you fly an airplane, also pretty fun, but a lot harder.
Blue Max
Packed size: 18k
Original size: 27k
Format: P00
Doc: Unknown
A great game, this one. Fly a biplane during World War I and bomb buildings, roads, boats and cars... Dogfight other planes, get higher scores, get higher ratings and finally become - Blue Max.
Choplifter
Packed size: 12k
Original size: 17k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Save your men in enemy territory. Or just crush them with X tons of chopper (heheheh).
Commando
Packed size: 27k
Original size: 43k
Format: P00
Doc: No
An arcade conversion, and a good one. As a lone soldier you must fight your way through hordes of enemies.
Delta
Packed size: 39k
Original size: 56k
Format: P00
Doc: No
One of the best shoot'em ups for the C64 with great graphics and sound. A bit too hard for my liking, though.
Falcon patrol I and II
Packed size: 24k
Original size: 39k
Format: P00(2)
Doc: No
Shoot down enemy bomb planes that attack your desert city. This is a horizontal two-way scrolling shoot'em-up. Hunting those planes as they swoosh over the city is really rather fun.
Fort Apocalypse
Packed size: 16k
Original size: 16k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Raid the fort and rescue its prisoners. Do as much damage as possible meanwhile.
Matrix
Packed size: 6k
Original size: 9k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A Centipede clone, and one of the first games we ever had on the C64. It's fast and furious with good electronic sound - making it fun and addictive.
Outlaws
Packed size: 29k
Original size: 48k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A western game, ride your horsey and shoot down the evil outlaws.
Paradroid
Packed size: 35k
Original size: 37k
Format: P00
Doc: C64
This is almost more of a puzzle game than a shoot'em-up. You must destroy all the droids (who have gone berzerk) on a starship, with the help of a small droid. Your smaller droid has one advantage, and that is that it can take over other droids, in a puzzle sequence. Quite original, and fun.
Parallax
Packed size: 41k
Original size: 46k
Format: P00
Doc: No
An eight-way scrolling shoot'em up by Sensible Software. It's got an adventure element in it also, you have to rescue some scientists or somesuch.
Paratroopers
Packed size: 7k
Original size: 9k
Format: P00
Doc: No
In this game you control a machine-gun that the enemy wants. The enemy wants it so bad in fact, that a swarm of paratroopers are trying to take it over, supported by bomber airplanes. You, of course, have to shoot them down. I love this game - simple and addictive.
Rambo
Packed size: 33k
Original size: 34k
Format: P00
Doc: C64
Rescue some POW:s, destroy the camp and something something. A bit like Commando, but with a little more depth. For once, when you crash into the enemy, it's he who dies and not you. Guess Rambo knows how to handle that jungle knife of his.
Sanxion
Packed size: 46k
Original size: 46k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A pretty standard shoot'em up. I still liked this a lot.
Saucer attack
Packed size: 12k
Original size: 13k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Independence Day like game from 1984. Destroy those saucers before they destroy Washington. Gorgeous backdrop.
Save New York
Packed size: 8k
Original size: 8k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Another 'save the city from the aliens' game - this time New York. Pretty fun, with a two-player options where you can go at each other instead of the aliens. And you do.
Seawolf
Packed size: 5k
Original size: 5k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Seawolf is a really simple game where you control a submarine and try to shoot as many boats as possible before you run out of time. Pretty pointless in one-player mode, but two-player is great fun.
Uridium
Packed size: 33k
Original size: 51k
Format: P00
Doc: C64
Classic shoot'em up from Hewson and Andrew Braybrook. Perhaps the fastest and best-looking game for the C64. I never thought it was that fun, though.
V - the game
Packed size: 22k
Original size: 43k
Format: P00
Doc: Atari
V was a hugely popular TV-series back in the 80s, and of course they had to make it a game. Lizard aliens have invaded Earth to use humankind as food. Of course they must be stopped - your mission is to plant bombs at key locations in their mothership.
West Bank
Packed size: 29k
Original size: 48k
Format: P00
Doc: No
Shoot the bank robbers! Oh, and try not to shoot the civilians. Great graphics, great fun. The soundtrack is really rather horrible, but it grows on you.
Who dares wins II
Packed size: 36k
Original size: 37k
Format: P00
Doc: No
This may be a blatant rip-off of Commando, but I still think it holds its own. In fact, it's just as good as the original, if not better.
Wizball
Packed size: 46k
Original size: 46k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A truly original game from Sensible Software. Playing a green, springy, ball (actually a transformed wizard), you must try to restore color to the world. Control is very tricky in the beginning, but once you get some power-ups things work out.
Zaxxon
Packed size: 17k
Original size: 27k
Format: P00
Doc: No
A 3D shoot'em up for the C64. Well, perhaps not as advanced as today's crop of PC 3D games, but still good clean fun - and one of the first games for the C64.
Zeppelin
Packed size: 16k
Original size: 26k
Format: P00
Doc: Atari
A classic shoot and explore game. Enter a large cave complex, find the dynamite and blow up the enemy lair.
